Diablo 3 Tips

Hi and welcome to Diablo 3 Tips. My name’s Mike Kim and I’ll be documenting and revealing all the secrets and gaming techniques I come across in Diablo 3.

I’ll also be reviewing the top Diablo 3 guides in the market and giving my honest (and very critical) review of them! So be sure to hang around while I go about finding out the best Diablo 3 Build Guide, Diablo 3 Leveling Guide, Diablo 3 Gold Guide, Diablo 3 Strategy Guide… basically everything there is out there.

Now that you’re all well on your way through Diablo 3′s end-game, you’ll probably realize by now that buying the gear you need will cost millions upon millions of Gold. The author’s of Diablo 3 Billionaire certainly took that into account when they started off their Diablo 3 careers and you’ll be happy to know that they’ve also provided access to others who intend to start earning some cash out of their game time.

Diablo 3 Billionaire

1.0.4 Official Launch!

If you’ve missed out on the official patch notes for 1.0.4, you can check it out here on the official Blizzard forums!

Personally, the biggest change to Diablo 3 has arrived since launch and I’m glad to hear it. Only 3 months after the launch, it’s pretty soon but there are quite a few significant changes to Diablo 3 and it’s not stopping here. Blizzard has already teased quite a few changes in their up and coming 1.1 Patch but for now, we’ll settle for what they’ve already done for 1.0.4!

Paragon System

The Paragon Levels apply immediately upon a character hitting level 60 where each point of experience beyond level 60 will be attributed to Paragon Leveling. Currently, there are a hundred levels of Paragon and each level of Paragon will provide your character with additional stats (the amount your character would attain from leveling from 59 to 60) as well as 3% in Magic Find and Gold Find!

This alone makes being 60 and in Inferno a little better as characters will still be able to progress in more ways than just attaining better gear. Even if a farming run doesn’t prove profitable (Gold-wise or Gear-wise), your character will still be getting experience points which will give you a better edge in the next run.

Even more, the core mechanics of Co-operative play were tweaked this time around as Magic Find, which used to be shared by all players in a game were made to only affect players individually. So if you’re running with 300% Magic Find and your Co-op buddy isn’t, you won’t have to worry about them halving your chances of getting better loot.

Touching on Co-operative games, the amount of bonus health monsters get in Inferno (all difficulties but Inferno is the most noticable) has reduced to only 75% where it used to go up to 105% more Health per additional player in a Co-op game. Furthermore, ALL monsters now have a higher chance of dropping Magic and Rare items which makes skipping enemies much less desirable.

In addition to the huge changes to mechanics, there have been a slew of changes across the board to all classes and you should definitely go through them personally to see how it affects your current playstyle and build. I’ll be going over a few of them that have affected me personally but as I don’t play all 5 classes religiously, I may not be able to cover as much ground as all of you!

1.0.4 Coming Soon!

1.0.4 Patch is coming soon to Diablo 3! Expected to arrive in the 4th week of August, there have been a slew of changes Blizzard has planned for their hit game of 2012. Some of which I’m especially excited for changes to Co-op that reward players for grouping up, as compared to flying solo. Of course the changes are actually a nerf to the amount of Health enemies have while in a cooperative game, there will also be buffs to normal enemies as well so it will probably not be much of a different in a group of 4 players.

One thing to note is that not everything on their list of changes they wish to make to Diablo 3 are going to be in effect for 1.0.4. There are many, such as changes to the classes themselves, which will be pushed forward to a much larger patch, 1.1. But for now, the list is huge and definitely worth giving a read.

Battle.net Security Update

Seems that Blizzard is having a hard time right now as their internal network has been accessed by unknown sources. Sadly, even with all the precautions they’ve taken with physical authenticators and security questions, if their servers themselves are vulnerable, all that information will be compromised as well.

It would seem that credit card information, billing address and identities are yet to be determined to have been compromised, but information such as emails, security questions and certain information related to authenticators were.

For more information on how what you should do to change security questions, passwords and emails, you should visit the official battle.net site. You’ll be able to find the links in Mike Morhaime’s official apology at http://www.us.blizzard.com/en-us/securityupdate.html.

Demon Hunter Introduction to Inferno

I’ll be honest, I haven’t covered that much on the Demon Hunter class as I myself haven’t gotten too deep into it yet. But I do have several friends who’ve had issues with clearing Act II as a Demon Hunter and I can probably attribute that to things which sneak up on you such as the Lacuni Prowler appearing on cliffs and jumping on them, typically killing them in a single blow. There are many MANY players which advocate just going all out DPS and absolutely ignoring survival stats such as All Resistance and Armor for the DH and I don’t really know which side of the fence I’m on.

To be fair, The Monk has “One with Everything” which takes the highest resistance and adds that to all other resistances, Barbarian has Warcry (Impunity) which increases all resistances by 50% and 20% Armor, Wizard has Energy Armor (Prismatic Armor) which provides 40% to all Resistance and 65% Armor.

Witch Doctors and Demon Hunters have Spirit Walk and Smoke Screen. So, entry level Inferno is fine for now. But it’s not easy to step into Act II and Act III then Act IV with the two as the gap is fairly large in the amount of damage they’ll be able to handle. In Act IV for example there are corrupted angels which charge at you from off screen and such, making it nearly impossible to continuously avoid taking damage at all. So what then? For now, I’ll be leaving a link here as it does explain several builds for the Demon Hunter which will help out those new to Inferno difficulty.

Act III Inferno Farming

Continued for my Act 2 Farming Route, Act III is a little more difficult but if you’re farming Act II comfortably, you may want to check it out. Mind you, I’ve also used this Act III farming route in Hell difficulty just to run around with my Witch Doctor to pick up Gold and made about 250k a run (About 30 minutes or so with 300% GF and not counting Nephalem Valour) so it doesn’t only apply to farming in Inferno difficulty.

Of course, there have been many who’ve said that if you’ve already got Act I on farm, simply by adding more and more Magic Find will ensure that you get as many rares as possible to increase the possibility of picking up an item level 63 item. However, whether that’s the case, sometimes we just get bored of visiting The Butcher all the time and want a change in scenery. So here’s the cookie cutter farming run for Act III.

Start off by Changing Quest to “Kill Siegebreaker” and Start Game. Once you’re in, check on the “Fortified Bunker” just outside the Arreat Gate. If the dungeon is “The Barracks”, leave game and start over. There are usually several Elite/Champion packs within the “Fortified Bunker” and would rather have access to them if possible.

After you’re done clearing “Fortified Bunker”, it’s very likely you’ll have 5 stacks of Nephalem Valour by now. Head over to the Keep Depths and clear levels 1, 2 and 3 for rares. Once that’s done, head outside to Rakiss’ Crossing where there’s the possibility of a dungeon called “The Underbridge”. Clear it out and head on over to Siegebreaker.

Personally, I stop my run here and restart because the rest of the way takes quite a while to finish. If your intention is to finish Act III altogether, it will take a lot longer than if you just reset the run as you’ll have to get past Cydaea and the Tower of the Cursed and so on. Of course, that’s simply a matter of preference.

Efficient Act 2 Farming Route

For those of you who are already familiar with farming, the name of the game is consistency. By now, most players who’ve reached Level 60 would at least be doing The Butcher by Starting Quest at “Enter the Cursed Hold”, getting 5 Nephalem Valor stacks then killing the Warden and moving on to the Butcher and probably running around killing Elite Packs later on until they run out of locations to explore.

However, like most players, eventually you’ll need a little change of pace. There are some players who insist that if you’re able to farm Act I Inferno, you should progressively increase your Magic Find to amazing levels to maximize the number of Rares you’ll be able to pick up therefore increasing your chances on picking up ilvl 63 gear. That may be the case, however this post is more for a change of pace and heading on to Act II for the sandy scenery.

To start with, you’ll be choosing the “Kill Zoltun Kulle” part of the Quest. From there, clearing Black Canyon mines and Howling Plateau should get you 5 stacks of Nephalem Valor. Otherwise, Road to Alcarnus has a confirmed Elite Pack or sometimes two. There’s no need to climb up the staircase to Maghda’s Den as there is never an Elite up there.

Moving on, Desolate Sands will have the Vault of Assassins which can have up to 8 Elite packs which you’ll probably spend some time clearing. After you’re satisfied, head to town and use the Waypoint to the “Archives of Zoltun Kulle” where there’ll be 3 entrances. I usually clear all 3 and then kill Zoltun Kulle. Once Zoltun Kulle’s dead, that’s when I usually leave game and start over. However, there are some who like killing Belial as well. The reason I usually skip Belial is because there’s only 1 Champion Pack outside his gates and Belial himself that provides loot. But still, that’s personal preference. Good hunting!

Wizard Critical Mass Skills/Gear

Hey there again all! This is a video I’d found on the Critical Mass build which is pretty much what I’ve been using for awhile now. Basically, RGDiablo3 puts it into words and shows some of the gear that you’ll need to pull off the build.

From the start of the video he explains the gear he has to support the type of playstyle required for the Critical Mass build and at about 4:15 in the video he’ll be going through the Skills he decided to go with. Like I’ve mentioned before, with enough gear, there won’t be a need for signature skills as you’ll be getting Arcane Power back for each crit you deal. You’ll see this all in action at about the 11th minute mark of the video as he runs through Act 3′s Keep Depths.

As always, good hunting!

Magic Find – Recap

If not mistaken, I’ve already written about Magic Find and how it helps just by having about 25% or so from gear or on your Follower as you’ll be able to pick up another 75% from your Nephalem Valor.

The reason behind the recap is due to the information Blizzard has recently released which officially states that Magic Find also affects the amount of properties on Rares dropped from Elites/Bosses. The video below provides a great example of a comparison between having 100% Magic Find and 300% Magic Find.

The Original Poster of the video has some statistics on how often he picks up Rares, how many of them are item level 63 and so on. However, the sample he uses is only from 35 or so Elites and about 67 Rares at 100% and 91 Rares at 300% so take it with a pinch of salt. Good hunting!

Barbarian Exploit

Well it seems the Wizard’s invulnerability exploit has been taken off the table by Blizzard, which is a good thing as it could’ve destroyed the economy (or has it already?). But just yesterday there was another game breaking discovery where the Barbarian was able to use Furious Charge’s 8% Life on Hit on every hit. When combined with Run Like the Wind from the Barbarian’s Sprint Skill, this made the Barbarian nigh invulnerable. Each tick of every tornado created by Run Like the Wind would cause the Barbarian to replenish up to 8% of their total Life.

Below is the link to the video made by Kripparian which explains further how to replicate the exploit as well as some short clips of him taking advantage of the bug. Sadly, this was removed about 5am PDT yesterday (On the Euro servers at least) but it’s very likely that Kripparian may not have been the first to discover it (He states that in the beginning of the video) and has probably been in the game for quite awhile.

Wizard’s God Mode Exploit

For many of you who play a Wizard (myself included), there has been an exploit going around and apparently has been in the game ever since launch. Apparently it’s been discovered about 3 weeks ago and is primarily used in Hardcore mode to farm for items in Solo. For those of you who would like to try it out, I found an instructional video to cause the exploit to occur here.

Of course, whether it’s a bannable offence or not is yet to be seen. I’ve tested this myself and it indeed works but only in Solo mode. Me and a few buddies decided to test it out by getting Diablo (Inferno) kills for everybody and their alts but shit promptly hit the fan as it seems to bug out during Multiplayer games.
